General Information
Parents/Guardians can watch by the side of the pool and must use the shoe covers to protect the poolside. Please also ensure that should there be any siblings watching that they are supervised.
Goggles
Goggles may be warn, but if your child plays with them during the lesson we may ask that they be taken off.
Equipment
You only need to bring your child's costume or trunks and a towel. We supply all the necessary equipment.
Showers
Showers are available for use and are situated at the entrance to the pool from the changing area.
Toilets
The toilets are situated at the entrance to the pool from the changing area.
Lockers
Lockers are available for your use and require a £1.00 coin which is returnable.Classes
All classes are of 30 minute duration, and no more than 8 children per class. Courses normally run for 12 weeks during the term time.

Teachers
All the teachers are A.S.A. qualified and regularly attend seminars and conferences to keep their teaching skills up to date.
Water Assistants
In the Beginner, Improver 1 and 2 classes we have a water assistant who assists the teachers and children.
Awards
All children work towards A.S.A. awards. Parents are given the opportunity to purchase badges and certificates at the end of each term.
Swim Shop
We sell Speedo goggles, discs and woggles all at reasonable prices. Please ask at the desk.
Newsletters
A newsletter is normally produced once of twice per term. This keeps you up to date with regard to events, term dates, enrolment etc.
Videos and Photography
If you wish to photograph or video your child during their lesson please ask at the desk so that we can obtain permission from other parents attending the lesson. This is a policy set by both Queen Mary's College and the A.S.A.
Annual Party
Every year we hold our annual party which includes a disco, food, drink and a gift.
Achiever Awards
These are presented at our annual party to Client's whom the teachers feel deserve recognition.
Guidelines for moving clients to the next level
- Adult & Child to Pre-School - Child has reached the age of 3 years.
- Pre-School to Beginners - Child has reached 4 years of age and has basic water confidence. Beginner to Improver 1 - Swimming confidently and consistently for one width. Front and back paddle unaided.
- Improver 1 to Improver 2 - Good backstroke arm recovery over water, good body position (streamlined). Extended front arm paddle with aquatic breathing.
- Improver 2 to Improver 3 - Over arm front crawl breathing recognised breaststroke and able to tread water.
- Improver 3 to Improver 4 - Bilateral front crawl, good breaststroke. Able to surface dive and show early diving skills.
- Improver 4 to Lanes - Good style in all three strokes. Able to dive.
